Its been to wet here in swmi to harvest any soybeans so the boys thought they would try the corn, that didn't last long its 33% and a 3 cent a point removal, so they are going to let it stand until, or hope the moisture comes down. I have never seen a fall like this one, we always have the beans done by the middle of October. Its supposed to be nice saturday through maybe tuesday or wednesday. I hope we get some great drying weather to get these beans out.But I am afraid that isn't enough time.

At this late date, I think your beans may dry better than your corn. I think it was Nielsen at Purdue that showed graphs of corn drydown at the rate of 0.1 to 0.3% per day at this time of year, and lesser rates later on. And, with just a few days of sunshine forecast in the next week, I'd be surprised if we can get anything more than that. Beans seem to dry somewhat better, probably because the pod's surrounded by air and any breeze is effective. Sun helps, of course.

The boys got there beans done finally, now its a waiting game on the corn. It rained all thursday night into friday afernoon nice untill 10pm then its rained all night and all day today so far. Local forcast Rain monday and wednesday so far for the next week. I see in nebraska western Iowa and s Minn your supposed to get snow at the end of the week, and rain before that.I think a lot of this corn is going to be damaged, and the beans in the south I here, are rotting. Anyone herd this?By the way the beans wwern't that good, a cool and dry june and july didn't help them at all.

Combined 300 acres of wheat on September 30. It is now October 28 and have done 60 acres of wheat and 220 canola. BORING. Snow melted today so hoping real cold friday nite like they say as I got 600 acres of canola and could do them in about 3 nites. Hoping for the best for every one.

what do you do with that corn? Dry or feed it?

yesterday, took about 60 bu of 19 moisture soybeans, then tried about 600 bu of 39 moisture corn. Wanted to at least get the end rows off, but the bubble up auger was a mashed wad of cream corn, so we quit.

Supposed to be 50's & dry for a a few days, so I'll turn on the dryer fan w/no heat to see if that corn mash in the dryer will dry down a little first without propane on it

rained again today, so went to Sioux Falls on a Lowes run

Observations along the way...... A few cornfields have the end rows off, most are untouched Not more than a handful of fields are done. Guessing 25% of the beans are still standing.

Only saw one field that was disked or chiseled.

Took next week off from work to combine something, not that I'll get anything done
