Y'all need to learn to play nice. Been awhile since I've wandered in, good to see there is some kickin still going on. North Mo. is fairly docile, still a few acres of corn in the fields, (not mine). We have had quite a bit of snow, but most is gone now, had about two solid weeks of fog that sure didn't help the cattle receiving, but have got along pretty well. Crop yields here were average at best. Mark, I almost shorted corn before the report, and I repeat almost, could have been some serious coin there. Pretty bullish cattle right now, I guess I gotta be considering I'm about full on cattle.

Later guys

Roy

Hi Roy, good to see ya.

Starting to look like the January report is a gimmee from the government to short it and make money every time.

Got my taxes done today. I'm so pissed....no way I can take the family to Hawaii. Going to have to settle for Cancun or maybe a little closer. If I was any madder, I'd illegally emigrate across a border into another country and sponge off them for awhile. Thinking of Canada. Already used to the cold and snow.

Quote from my tax man "Let's see what we can do here. Not much I can do for you on the state level. They're broke and they know it. Fed though, they are throwing money around like they have it".

Twenty-some days in December temps never topped zero. Just had another round of blizzard conditions sweep thru. Accidents and blocked roads like never before. People driving in white-outs till the car or truck won't go any further. Still lots of corn fields in SW Minnesota and across into South Dakota untouched. Not little 15 or 20 acre fields either. 80's & quarters, buried in snow. Some around here left, though not too many.

don't pre-plan, guess I kinda keep a running total in my head of what I've taken in, and what I've spent thru the year.

If I'm too long, I prepay some inputs the last week, or make a loan payment early and make sure I have the interest on everything paid by the 31st.

you have to remember, what I farm in a year, you farm in 1/2 a day

one of the marketing services i subscribe to called me 2 days after the report and asked if i wanted to join in and short the grains?!?! i told him if'n he had called 2 days prior with a good case to short, i may have been more open to the idea at that time frame.

out of the 2 i subscribe to, and all the free ones on the net i visit..........i think every one of them were looking for a slight cut in corn yields. they where not bullish, nor bearish. i would say most where comfortably neutral. a couple did mention you might want to price some cash grain ahead if you where worried a bearish surprise could be revealed? but they made no urgent push for sales.

i feel Lanworth is and has been on to something since way back in the summer concerning this past crop. if you look the past few days, lot's of Headlines making news saying "chances for Food Price Inflation seen falling"..........i'm with Doug, these reports seem to have become stimulus opp's for distressed Government partners.

death & taxes, you know what they say! JD
