do any of you have a newer one
i am leaning that way
6k less then timpte or wilson
09 or 10 used ones are more money from alot of these low lease firms
prices are nuts
called all over a five state area the past few days
if i go new... a stoughton
may have a guy that will trade one of my air seeders for a 09 or 10 timpte
will go that route if he is fair

I hate to say it Mark, but I have never even heard of a Stoughton. I've got Wilson and Tempte, and I prefer the Tempte. A few Merrits, and Cornhuskers around here, but Tempte and Wilson capture 90% of all makes.

never heard of that brand either.

wilson & timpte are by far the most used here and if well kept they hold their resale values very well, too good if you plan on buying a nice clean, used one.

i have bought 2 Dakota Alum hopper's since 2003. last time i priced a new Wilson & Jet along with the Dakota. the Wilson was almost $7k more, the Jet $4K more.

i like the Dakota because they do not "skin" the sides, nor do they paint the sides. my 2008 40ft Dakota weighs almost 7000..........looking at a recent scale ticket, gross of 82300 nets me 1027bu corn, 24830 empty weight on that trip. i also like the doors and how they open, six turns of the handle and it's wide open. they have good height under the doors which works well with my swing auger.

so far i have had no trouble with the trailers, did have trouble with the Firestones that came on the first one though. JD

i have looked at dakotas also. I like the look and price, but what we see up here is they crack alot.
might be all the redneck roads and drivers, but they are also all welded and not many rivets.
the resale up here has been poor.my neighbor has 2 and traded every 18 months for new dakotas.
Stoughton has made dry vans forever.Maybe the biggest company out there.
They did hoppers in the 70's, still some of those in the hood yet.
they test ran some again in 08.full runs in 09 10 11. They look like a timpte through and through, but 7k less.
thanks for the replies guys

That doesn't sound out of reason for a new Wilson. Not many 102" trailers hauling grain around here, but about all ingredient trailers are.
